71 icon Role of a BA in an Agile Environment - Presentation Slides The role of the BA in an agile environment was the hot topic of the recent Canberra User Group Meeting on the 23rd of October. Mark Foley from Borland, gave us insights into the emergence of agile as a methodology over the last ten years from the chrysler motor car 3Cs beginnings of XP to today's scrum sprints. We discussed the key elements of agile and how this can help our projects be more flexible, adaptive as through sprints we can develop and evolve the requirements with the business and users. Mark discussed that agile can be used across large geographically dispersed teams and in the government setting, agile is still relevant as documentation of the sprints as used in scrum, can help stakeholder understand the system and be more involved as the customer represtative. 66 icon BA Competency Framework v1.0 This document will give you an outline of the skills and competencies of an effective Business Analyst and why competency levels and assessments are important to any organisation. With Business Analysis competency assessments, we can determine who has the best mix of traits and skills to be an effective Business Analyst, or the potential to become one. Competency assessments also help us identify candidates’ skill area strengths and weaknesses. As a result: • Business Analysts can be appropriately recruited. • Business Analyst training and development programs should be more effective. • Projects should be defined at a higher quality level. • Hence more projects will be successful • Hence profitability should improve.
